about

The eviscerating new album marks Philippe’s return to releasing music after being diagnosed with cancer and passing through a dark night of the soul. With two successful single releases that are as brave as they are vulnerable, the full length album is an offering of intimacy, pain, resilience and release.

Emblematic of Philippe’s deft ability to weave lived experiences into sound and song, Like A Holy Face grows from an exposed acoustic guitar and vocal into a journey of songs that’s as gorgeously melodic as they are textural. Summoning raw fragility in a brand new light; each recording holds its own creating many rooms to a well renewed home skilfullylfully including the imperfections and vivid atmospheric noises that surrounded Philippe during the recording process.

After releasing By Autumn EP; a collection of live recordings made in Stroud, Philippe was diagnosed with cancer age 33 at which point his life began to unravel as he would then face surgeries and relationship breakdown as a result of his illness. “Finding myself at rock bottom was incredibly challenging but I have learnt to methodically build myself back up” he says “I now feel stronger than before, while also forever marked by those experiences and carrying it with me”.

Like A Holy Face clearly bares the scars of Philippe’s inner world while panning out to offer hope, comfort and encouragement to a world faced with degradation, crisis and war. Philippe’s experiences over the past few years can be felt breathing through this album, and he offers a remarkable resolution to choose hope and encouragement closing the album with the line ‘heaven surrounds, find it you know how, there’s no time, there’s no time like now”.

about

Philippe Nash UK

Drifting beautifully between personal conflicts and the natural world; Philippe's piercing rumination on his own emotive state is met by a crackle of nightly noise in the far-off distance, a wash of ambience approaching.

Led by a voice that is immediately striking, Philippe’s music is at once raw and rigid, and then untethered and vulnerable.
